The Murder of Bill Gaffney

On February 11,  1927 4 year old Bill Gaffney was playing at the apartment building with a older boy and a boy just his age. The older boy went inside for a few minutes and when he came back the two boys were gone. One of the boys was found on the roof saying that the boogey man took Billy. A little later in the day Joseph Meehan , a streetcar motorist, said he saw a elderly man trying to quiet a young boy but he still heard the boy crying and yelling that he wanted to go home. Nobody knew what had happened to Billy until Fish was arrested and confessed to killing young Billy. After Fish confessed to the killing of Billy Gaffney he explained what he did to him in a letter to his attorney. In the letter Fish said that he tortured Billy by cutting off his ears, gouging out his eyes, and slitting his mouth up to his ears. After Gaffney had died he cut open his belly and drank his blood. When he was done drinking the blood he cut the pieces of his body up to take back home. Fish was so disgusting he even described how he cooked the parts of the body and basically stated a recipe for eating Billy's body parts.
